Autumn Term 2012

Christmas Boxes

We have been busy creating 20 Christmas boxes filled with luxury Christmas food and pampering items for the '60 not out' group who meet at the New Mills Volunteer Centre. Last year we delivered 13 boxes to the Stroke support group.

Christmas Prize Draw

Our Christmas Prize Draw raised £488.10. This year, we donated half the money - £244.05- to Tommy's baby charity.

Many thanks to everyone who donated a prize or bought a ticket.

Prizes were donated by Mettricks, Medulla Hair, Boots, Alternative Health Clinic, The Hub, Creative Photography, Doc Greens, Co-op, Sainsbury's, Bryan's Butcher, Ruth's Cakes, Barbara Crossland, Crispy Cod, Ryans, Blake's Art of Hair, Bargain Booze, Village Saver, New Mills Post Office

Dotty Disco

The group organised a Dotty Disco, raising £90 for Children in Need. DJ Ali B put on a great show and every child went away  happy with their own dotty dalmatian!

Toy Sale

We raised £230 for our local Parks.

Story Sacks

We created story sacks for the New Mills Children's Centre to use with children who they visit and who visit the centre.

Previous achievements

Some other achievements that the group have had are:

• 'Teenage Kicks' DVD - a dvd for teenage mums, developed in partnership with Glossopdale young women's group, starring women a children from the group.
• Organising neighbourhood and fun days in the local community.
• Charity fundraising
• group fundraising events e.g. barn dance and annual toy sales
• One world festival stalls
• Group visit to parliament - meeting with our local MP.
• supporting the play parks campaign e.g. through toy sales.
